It was a hard decision. Which
career should he choose performer or particle physicist? Paul certainly had the right family background. "My great grandfather was the managing director of Abbey Road Studios, my grandfather
was a nanoelectronic particle physicist,"
explains Paul. "I'm one of those strange people who actually liked physics at school."
But when this actor, singer
and music fanatic landed a part in a local performance of West Side Story, his mind was made up. He joined the National Youth Music Theatre's production of Pendragon, through which he met fellow
S Club 7 member Hannah. While saving
up pennies with a variety of part-time jobs (including theatre doorman and ceramic hygienist) Paul took an acting and musical theatre course at Mountview Drama School
and also started singing with a rock band. As second oldest, Paul takes charge of S Club 7 business at times. Although, he may have a grown-up head on his shoulders,
he's also described by the others as
the joker of the band
